ABOUT THE ARTIST
When I moved to South Florida eight years ago, I joined a studio and began working in fused glass. As an artist I have always been interested in the interactions of shapes and colors. Fusing together combinations of colored, powdered and iridized glass gives me the unique ability to create designs with depth, layering and reflectiveness. Pieces of my glass have been included in three juried shows at Arts Warehouse in Delray Beach. One received The Judge's Recognition Award. I now work in my own home studio and am deeply immersed in creating functional glass art.
To give you an understanding of my background, I originally pursued a career as an art teacher. After several years I left that to start my own business as an artist. I designed and painted a line of handcrafted furniture, which was sold in shops in upstate NY. One of my children's chairs was selected as a "Best Bets"by New York Magazine. I also painted second hand furniture for retail stores and individuals. My work also included numerous commercial and residential murals.
